College, University Partnership & Credit
The
Poway High School Engineering Academy and Pathway has adopted the
nationally acclaimed and award winning Project Lead the Way (PLTW)
curriculum as it’s foundation.
The PLTW affiliation provides students with a variety of
Affiliate College and Universities that are articulated with the
program. As the Engineering Academy is one of 13 certified PLTW programs in the state of California, students can receive college credit at an affiliated college or university
(with a cost per unit).
Students will be able to take the PLTW national engineering college credit end of the year assessment exam to earn engineering college credit with an accomplished or higher, while maintaining a B in the course. If they earn a Distiguished, that is equivalent to a “A", an Accomplished is equivilant to a "B" and a Practice is equivilant to an “C" on the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) transcript. RIT grades are transferable to other colleges typically as engineering elective credit. See
the front page for the affiliate partners associated with the
Engineering Academy and Pathway.

Rochester Institute of Technology Transferable College Credit to any institution: RIT offers PLTW students the opportunity to receive undergraduate credit for four PLTW courses: Honors Introduction to Engineering Design (IED/ID), Honors Computer Integrated Manufacturing
(CIM), Honors Principles of Engineering (POE), and Honors Civil Engineering & Architecture (CEA). To qualify, students will take the PLTW national engineering college credit end of the year assessment exam to earn engineering college credit with an accomplished or higher, while maintaining a B in the course, and having a class average of 85% or higher. The PLTW End-of-Course (EoC) assessment(s) are free for students to take. The cost for each course is $225 and each course is worth three semester credits.
